Julie Paul Brown, AIA LEED AP

Julie is a registered architect in MA, CT, NH and VT and a LEED Accredited Professional. She manages the day to day operations of North Bay and provides construction consulting for both owners and design firms.  Julie holds the MA Certification for School Project Designers & Owner’s Project Managers (MCPPO) Certification and has been qualified by the State of Connecticut Commission on Culture + Tourism as a Certified Historic Architect in accordance with the US Secretary of the Interior.

Julie received a BArch with University Honors at Carnegie Mellon University where she was awarded the Vira I. Heinz Travel Endowment to study at the Technical University in Vienna. She earned a Master in Design Studies (with Distinction) in Critical Conservation from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her thesis (Re)Considering Energy and Existing Multi-wythe Brick critically analyzed the prevailing approaches to energy retrofits of existing mass brick buildings and explored alternative strategies to use energy more effectively, while promoting the endurance of buildings. Julie serves as a guest architecture critic at local universities and is active with several industry organizations. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Historic Boston, Inc. (a non-profit developer of historic buildings) and is Chair of the Project Review Committee.

Timothy Brown, CPE

Tim is a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) and experienced construction manager with over 25 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry. Tim started early in his career in the carpentry trade before earning a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from Wentworth Institute of Technology and attending Northeastern University for Civil Engineering. He is a licensed Construction Supervisor and has worked as an Estimator, Project Manager, Field Engineer and Superintendent for such companies as Bovis Lend Lease and GBH Macomber Company. Tim holds a City of Boston Superintendent’s license and was involved in the ground-up construction of several high rise projects in downtown Boston, as well as hospitals, banks, academic, retail, industrial and residential projects throughout the Northeast.

After starting North Bay with his architect wife, Julie, in 2002 initially as a design/build company, the team expanded the company’s services to include construction consulting, including project management and cost estimating. Tim is an active member of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Boston Chapter.
